Des Plaines, IL. July 18, 2005.

Item: Florida in July: The Bi-Annual Hurricane Chase. Would Dennis cause as much trouble as Isabel? This time, we skirted the storm, heading down the I-75 Corridor in Georgia, while the center was a couple of states over. The rains of the outer bands were heavier than what we had with Isabel, but the winds were lighter. Sorry, no pics from the storm - too busy concentrating on trying to see the traffic in front of us - but the rest of it was great. For more info on Dennis...

So anyway, we decided to head out to Orlando to get in a Vacation before I had to start a job. You know... that positive mental attitude stuff. We were hoping for a shuttle launch on the 13th, but the "Return to Flight" was delayed due to difficulties with a fuel sensor.

We went to Epcot to see and taste some international flavors...

We went to Mt. Dorra to taste some Florida flavors...(Yummy! Rock Shrimp!) Rock shrimp has a taste like lobster, but it's not so common because it's so hard to get it out of the shell. The founder of the Dixie Crossroads restaurant developed a simple technique: split the back like a lobster.

OK, enough with the flavors... Coming in from the drought affected midwest, we thought Sea World would be refreshing. I was there back in 1976 or so, and it has grown a lot since then.
